Specification Review
Custom head gasket scan and drawing coordination
Distinguish requested bore, thickness and hole-pattern specifications from verified supplier declarations when coordinating a custom head gasket.
Specification Review decision points
-
Requested parameters
State bore diameter, thickness with units, layer count, hole pattern, material and whether a physical scan or CAD drawing will define the custom head gasket outline. Units must appear on the RFQ so quotes stay comparable across suppliers.
-
Supplier response
Ask the supplier to identify model, revision, measurement convention and every dimensional deviation against the submitted scan or drawing. Request a written packing list when the offer is framed as a kit rather than a single sealing sheet.
-
Evidence scope
Match drawings and material declarations to the actual gasket and quoting entity. Do not treat a marketing photo of a related MLS sheet as the custom part file. Thickness figures without the measurement convention are incomplete for comparison.
-
Unresolved points
Record missing thickness conventions, open coolant-hole questions and kit-content gaps before approving a sample or production order. New versus remanufactured condition, kit versus individual seals, and sample-versus-batch acceptance stay listed until the supplier writes them down.
When two custom constructions are offered, ask each plant for bore openings, hole pattern, layer count, thickness convention, material declaration and whether companion seals are inside the quoted package. Missing files stay open; they are not replaced with a percentage savings story or a borrowed workshop poster.
Related notes: set RFQ checklist and thickness quote review. Return to catalog options or send the open file list.
Prepare a comparable parts request
Optional budget and supplier preference can accompany your custom-gasket file notes without an existing third-party quotation.
